The Joy of My Pain

Faith is easy to describe when life works. Its weight is revealed when you keep trusting, hoping and praising without an answer.

If there is one joy I have in my pain, it’s the fact that nothing ever takes God by surprise. Day after day I pray to him and above everything else, I know he hears me.

Most days I am burdened by life and confused about the steps I should take. I cannot begin to explain to anyone the issues that I face because they cannot understand let alone solve it. Only God can solve and intervene in my problems.

I will believe even when believing seems impossible. I will trust even when trusting seems impossible. I have pleaded to hear His voice and waited patiently for Him to speak, but I have heard nothing. Hours have turned into days, and days into months, but yet I remain as one without an answer. Many might call me stupid but I will choose to believe. He is my only plan. I have no other plan. I will wait for Him to answer and deliver me. And when he does, I will soak myself in the joy of knowing I depended on my God, and he came to my rescue. I will shout and sing it to the uttermost parts of the earth, I will tell anyone who will listen, how my God rescued me after a long waiting period. But for now, I have nothing but my faith.

“I trace the rainbow through the rain.”

Three things shall I do, that my joy may be full…

I will keep trusting. Life has proven difficult, but in God, I find my strength. Of what use is trusting God if I will only trust him when times are good? I will trust him in my troubled times, I will trust him with all my heart because I believe he knows best. O Lord, your righteousness reaches to the skies, you have done great and mighty things. Who is like you?

I will keep hoping. I have not seen the testimony but I will keep hoping. For hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who even hopes for what they already have? I have not, so I hope. The pain of my present may be huge, but it is nothing compared to the glory which the Lord will reveal in due time. For the Lord will restore Joy to my household once again, yes. He will restore and lift me high once again. You, O Lord will increase and honour me once again.

I will keep praising. Hard are the days and my heart is burdened every morning but I will not stop serving you because in you lies my testimony. I will lift my hands to your holy name. There is none like you, Your righteousness reaches to the skies. You have indeed done great things for me. Woe unto me if I neglect all the wondrous things you have shown and done for me, Your mercies towards me have been endless. Thank you for though I may see troubles, many and bitter, you promise to restore my life again. I praise you for your faithfulness. Happy am I when my lips shout and sing praises to your name, for You have redeemed me.

Thank you, Lord, that in the midst of my troubles I can pray to you and be refreshed by the presence of God.
